Born on 1s of February 1949. Graduated in Science from M C College, Barpeta, and Graduated in Law from J B Law College, Guwahati. Was President of the Law College Student Union. Enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh on 2nd February, 1976. Attended the Chamber of Mr. K. M. Lahiri, Senior Advocate (As he then was, later on retired as Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court) while was a student in the Law College. Had practices in the original Civil, Criminal, Revenue, Labour and Service Courts/Tribunal and in the High Court in Constitutional, Civil, Criminal, Labour and Service matters. Was Government Advocate for Assam Government since 1979 for about fifteen (15) years intermittently, both in civil and criminal side. Appointed as Additional Senior Government Advocate, Assam in the year 1996 and continued in that position till July 1999. Defended the State Government in various complicated civil, constitutional and tax matters. Thereafter also was engaged by Government of Assam as a Special Counsel to defend important tax and other matters. Was the legal advisor of the Assam Co-operative Apex Bank Ltd., a state level Co-operative Bank from 1984 to 1996. Was also the legal advisor of the Co-operative City Bank Ltd., Guwahati since 1983 for about 21 years, till elevation to the Bench. Was the legal advisor of Tata (Elxsi) Ltd., a Company of Tata Group, for Assam. Was Guest Lecturer of J B Law College and the College of Professional Studies, Guwahati. Was examiner for LL.B. Course under the Gauhati University. Was Legal Advisor of the Assam Cricket Association, a Company of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Had extensive practice in all branches of law in original/appellate side as well as in the Assam Board of Revenue and High Court Designated as Senior Advocate on 3rd June 1999. Elevated as Additional Judge of the High Court on 1st November 2004. Became a permanent Judge of the Gauhati High Court with effect from 27.02.2006.
